About Honkers Pub & Eatery
A business is only as good as those who work there. At Honkers Pub & Eatery we have been fortunate to have a dedicated and loyal staff, many who have been with us for a long time. We work hard, are dedicated to providing good food with a smile but while we work we have lots of fun meeting new people and new experiences. Please meet our team starting with our owner, Vicky Vanden Hoek.
Vicky returned as sole owner in 2016 with Bob continuing as an employee but still creating fabulous Honkers' meals. Honkers is an independent and locally-owned business that has been in operation for over 19 years and employs full and part-time employees.
Honkers has successfully expanded in sales every year since our inception. ‘Local’ is the keyword in the day-to-day operations of our business. We use other locally owned businesses where ever possible, even if it cuts into our bottom dollar. We are very enthusiastic when it comes to being involved with community events and charities, and we proudly display the recognition letters from charities and other businesses we collaborate with citing our contributions and donations. We also take great pride in the fact that we serve as much homemade product as possible to maintain a healthier (and MSG free) food experience for our patrons at a reasonable price.
Our dedication to keeping the pub technologically updated, clean and well above public standards has earned us accolades from the Food and Health Inspection Board and Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission.
As for the environment, it is important to us that we take steps to reduce our carbon footprint; we have installed motion-activated water faucets, we recycle (bottles, cardboard and even our cooking oil!) and we use products made from recycled materials as much as possible, from the floor mats to the paper in our printers.
We have donated to many local fundraising events that are often connected with our patrons. They support us and we like to support them with their charity work. We host a variety of events at Honkers from Ladies Night to wine glass painting to business meet-ups and with each major event we endeavour to add a Charity donation.
One of our biggest and proud contributions was helping raise $17,000 to renovate the 3rd floor Community Kitchen at the YWCA. It took a couple of years but through our events, we raised enough to renovate the kitchen. Honkers staff and friends dismantled the room and used ALL LOCAL businesses to create a fresh and modern kitchen with new appliances.
Each year, with support from the local Lethbridge Firefighters Calendar, we host an event to raise money for Fire Fighter Charities and through the year have raised almost $5,000. It has now become an annual Ladies Event in November, one you don’t want to miss. We ask people who are seeking donations or sponsorships to review our donations policy as we do not accept requests by telephone or in person.
Recently at our 20th Birthday Bash in March 2017,we raised $350 for the MS Walk. One of our dear customers and friends has MS and we started a Team to “Walk With Jackie” Team. We have an amazing TEAM that love to work at Honkers cause FUN blends with work.

Dusty Rose Paynter,
Dusty Rose has been in the Hospitality Industry for years and has Supervised and Managed. We are excited for her to step up to Pub Manager. Working with the Staff and Customer to make Honkers the place to be.
Michael joined our team in September 2015 and has helped organize a busy kitchen using all his experience in hospitality. Chef Michael has some very creative dishes and culinary skills. He is a great team leader pulling out the talents of all those who work in the Honkers Kitchen. He has created “Homemade Soup” challenges amongst the chefs to the liking of the customers. Health and Safety are so important to Michael.
